Okay, I've come down off the soapbox. I've since learned that I may not have all the details on the single mom just right -- 3 kids on disability due to their own issues. That money, I think, is federal rather than state money. (not that that matters to me) She's also admitting that she does need financial help. She'll have how many millions in hospital bills when the last preemie finally gets to go home? DUH.
What WAS she thinking?
Okay, done with that topic.
A nice article appeared in the Boston Globe recently about indie label Rounder's big win at the Grammy's with best album and best song (Alison Krauss and Robert Plant). Rounder's been around for many, many years, and the good folks there deserved this.
We've gotten approx. 5-7 inches of snow in the last 18 hours. We're supposed to get a couple more tonight. I had no problems driving to work, but then I only have to drive 2 blocks. A friend who drives about 10-12 km said the roads were horrendous, hence the two-hour delay allowed for those who have to drive in.
This weekend's a long weekend. I have no plans. I haven't been particularly inspired to make any. I'm thinking about actually going to Munich for a night, which could give me about two full days there since it's only a 1.5-hour drive. Hmmmm. . . maybe.

you were not far off
my fellow teachers and I used to spend our very brief lunch half hours and planning hours totaling up what the families of our kids were costing the collective governments, across their lifetime
I have never hidden the fact that I am pro choice, but goddamn this is the total antithesis
it's breathtaking
