I just went to see Bridge to Terabithia. It wasn't my first choice, but it's the only movie I was at all interested in seeing at the time I wanted to go. The movie didn't feature nearly as much of a fantasy world as I'd hoped, but it was a sweet kids' movie all the same.
After the movie I went to the bookstore next door to check out sale books and random magazines. I came across the latest issue of Texas Monthly. The cover touts articles on "The (Unfinished) Legacy of George W. Bush," in which a variety of people speculate what historians down the road will say about G.Dub. In the magazine, I saw a highlighted quote by someone who said that he (GW) just wanted to do the right thing and that history will show that. I had to wonder what fantasy world this particular person was from. It certainly wasn't Terabithia, where the good guys are human but noble, and things more or less work out in the end. Although I don't think that all the writers took the same stance, I had to put the magazine back. It just seemed kind of. . . icky. . . at that point.
